Ceramic tile is a cheap alternative to other countertops. Not only is tile heat resistant, but its also starting to come back into today's style.

Cultured Marble

Is a man-made material. It is known for being tough but does require more maintenance and can stain easily.

Wood

Wood is a cheaper alternative to traditional countertops that add a beautiful aesthetic to any room. However, they do require more maintenance than others. They must be properly sealed, oiled, and are prone to scratches and dents.

Quartz

Quartz is a popular alternative on this list. They are very durable with less tendency to chip, its also stain resistance and requires little maintenance. However, direct light can discolor them over time and seams are more visible with lighter color slabs.

Laminate

Laminate is probably the cheapest countertop on this list. These countertops are very cheap, come in a wide variety of colors and are durable. However, they are not heat resistant, and not as durable as stone.
